Appearance

Optionally, you may customise the appearance of the Check-In user interface to match the colors and branding of your event. By default the interface will be in Visit’s own color scheme of white, blue and green.

  • Upload a logo for display when using check-in
  • Select an application color and an action color from the available options to match the colour scheme used at your event. Note that the colours need to be configured under Design->Color Palette

Keyboard Input

By default Visit Check-in assumes a US international keyboard layout. For use on computers with different keyboard layouts, select one or more of the available additional input formats. The type may be switched in Visit Check-in from the keyboard icon in the toolbar.

Security

Passwords

Visit Check-In holds sensitive (personally identifiable) data therefore it’s important that access to this data is prevented if the terminals are left unattended by event staff. The screen may be locked at any time on request, however it’s also recommended to set a timeout-based lock.

When using Check-In, select lock screen from the top left menu to secure the software at any time. Note that while locked, data continues to synchronise in the background provided network connectivity is available.

The terminal may be unlocked by either:

  • entering the configured unlock password
  • scanning a badge of a defined registration type (for example you may have a visitor registration type named event staff)

A separate settings password is used to make configuration changes to the application, for example setting up printers or changing the active mode. This password should be shared with limited onsite users only, whose role it is to manage the overall settings and configuration. It’s recommended to use strong passwords and to ensure that the unlock and settings passwords are different. Note the same passwords are used on all Check-in instances in use at the event.

Screen Lock

Enable the automatic screen lock function to automatically secure each check-in instance after a period of inactivity. The timeout is configured between 1 and 10 minutes. Note that screen locking only applies to certain modes (for example service centre) where there is a risk of sensitive data being accessed. For other modes (for example Access Control) the station will stay active unless manually locked on request.

Onsite Staff

As an alternative mechanism for unlocking Check-In instance, enable the Onsite staff setting. Scanning a badge QR code (with a connected optical scanner) will unlock the software, however only where the registration type matches the configured option. Unlocking may only be configured for a single registration type.

Check-in Lite Pincode

Check-in Lite (the lightweight version of Check-In for mobile devices and tablets) has its own settings. For increased security, and to prevent configuration errors, it’s recommended to protect these settings using a 4 digit pin. The configured PIN is applied universally to all instances in use at the event.
