Access Control mode logs the entries of visitors into the event or a seminar session. A staff member will scan badges at the entrance or door, and Check-in will respond with ‘admit’ or ‘deny access’ as appropriate. You will need a compatible barcode scanner connected to Check-in to use this feature, and the attendance will update live in Visit Create.
How To Use
- Connect your compatible barcode scanner to the USB port of your Event Box.
- From the settings menu select mode Access Control.
- Select whether this is for the event, or for an individual seminar.
- Set the location of the Check-in (entrance or seminar room). Locations are usually configured in Visit Create, but you can also add one here using the button.
- When you click Save you will be prompted to scan barcodes.
Check-in will respond to each scan to admit or deny entry.
Troubleshooting
If your scanner does not respond as you expect when you have scanned a barcode:
- Check that it is plugged in to the USB port
- Make sure that it is in USB-COM mode, not Keyboard Wedge mode.
a. You can check if a scanner is in keyboard wedge mode by going to a data entry form, such as the self-registration form, and putting the cursor in a field where you can type, such as ‘First Name’. Then, instead of typing, scan a barcode again. If you see the letters or numbers of a barcode appear here, then your scanner is set in Keyboard Wedge mode.
b. See the documentation for your scanner to change it to USB-COM mode.
